Florescent Penetrant NDT Inspector

Job description

Working as a member of the Final Inspection Department, the successful candidate will be responsible for two main roles: as a Non-Destructive inspector and as a Final Inspector. Both roles involve taking responsibility for final acceptance for 100% of finished parts and maintaining the high standards of product quality is critical.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Visual inspect parts that have been through the florescent penetrant process line, checking all surfaces of the part working under UV lighting in clean dark conditions (Training will be provided and only after a successful training and examination program will the applicant be approved)
  • Dimensional check parts
  • Cleaning & general housekeeping

Attributes and Personal Qualities needed for this role

  • Have a keen eye for detail and imperfections
  • Completing documentation and quality records
  • Good PC knowledge including use of Microsoft Excel and Word (training available)
  • Report any quality issues to the Chargehand or Chief Inspector
  • An approach to work which seeks Continuous Improvement in all activities
  • Willingness to complete training courses and examinations
  • Manually dress parts if imperfections are assessed to be reworkable
  • Must be able to clean and work in a very tidy manner and to keep very high standards in the working environment
  • Self-motivated to work unsupervised with a pro-active attitude but also take direction and adhere to deadlines
  • The ability to navigate around Sharepoint and D365 Systems will be advantageous
  • Strong work ethic and ability to promote good teamwork
  • Flexibility to meet the demands of the business

In order to meet the requirements of the role, applicants should:

  • Be able to read component drawings
  • Be able to use a wide range of inspection and test equipment with appropriate training (including micrometers, verniers and gauges)
  • Understand customer and internal specifications
  • Work collectively and collaboratively with the Quality, Production and Management teams
  • Work with a meticulous and methodical approach
  • Handle and take care of the delicate precision engineered parts
  • Not be colour blind, you must maintain annual eyesight tests (via Health and Safety at Cross), and use optical aids if required
